April Knights Notes

Well, it looks like spring is finally here! CHANGE again, this time the seasons. As most of you already know, March marked the second year in a row that our council has sponsored a winner in the K of C State level Spelling Bee. Congratulations goes to all our spellers. This event is one that crosses Church boundaries in that we hold this contest with students from not just OLLH School but also all the schools in this area; namely OLLH, Zion Lutheran Harbor Beach, St. John’s Lutheran Port Hope, Port Hope Public School, Harbor Beach Public School, Plus at least two of the “Country Schools”. Another such recent yearly contest was our annual “Free Throw” where several local youths advanced to regional’s. The next time you cross paths with Brother Bob Wruble shake his hand and thank him for all the time and effort he puts into these youth programs!

You might have recently noticed that on the first Sunday of each month our Chaplain has begun a program of having each organization within or associated with Holy Name of Mary Parish enter an insert into the Parish Sunday Bulletin. We have placed several informative articles into this two sided insert. (NOTE: it is called an “insert”, however it has often been placed in the article racks next to the bulletins themselves.) If you attend HNOM Parish (several of our members are registered at other nearby parishes) be sure and take a copy of these informational sheets which are attempting to highlight all the “good things” going on within both the Knights and the other Parish organizations.

This coming weekend is our annual state-wide MI Drive. Our members will be at storefronts and at various street-corners on Friday and Saturday dressed in bright yellow safety aprons and holding out collection cans. Be as generous as you can in both your time and monies for this very worthwhile effort.

Annual Officer elections are upcoming in June. Nominations for all elective offices should be given to our Worthy Trusties for considerations. They in turn will present these names to the Council in or May meeting with elections the following month. Names of currant Trustees are located elsewhere in this publication.
